Across the United States there are a number of amazing traditions that take place on the 4th of July. Across the country in Coney Island, competitors will test their mettle to see how many hot dogs they can eat in 10 minutes, there are firework displays and parades that help us feel the rush of patriotism, and in Maine they even race lobsters! There are things to see in Santa Barbara, we have our own incredible tradition, and we truly believe it's better than any other in the country: The 4th of July Art Show at the Old Mission Santa Barbara. Truly one of the greatest art shows in California, the 4th of July Art Show is an incredible mixture of one of a kid art, music, food, and more!
Started all the way back in the 1960s by just a handful of volunteers, the 4th of July Art Show has grown exponentially over the decades and has truly become the must-see event in Santa Barbara every 4th of July. Though the show has moved locations a few times over its history, it has finally returned home to the Old Mission Santa Barbara, and 2018 looks to be bigger and better than ever!
The 4th of July Art Show is truly a one of a kind event in Santa Barbara and promises an afternoon of excitement and fun! In addition to all of the talented artists that will be on site for the event, there will also be some of the finest local food vendors in all of Santa Barbara here as well to keep your belly full while you explore. There will also be live music to keep you entertained, which creates an atmosphere that is fun, warm, and inviting.
The true stars of the show are the 100+ artists and artisans who participate every year, featuring works of arts and crafts that are truly one of a kind. Whether you're in the mood to find a beautiful painting or an incredible hand-crafted piece of jewelry, we'll be sure to have it! And the best part - you'll be supporting the local art community!
